Giving thanks every day.

As our holiday colors change from black and orange to red and green-- we pause for one day to give thanks.  On this day, most everything stops so that we can give thanks to God for the abundant blessings that He has given to each of us. When God's handiwork is so vividly on display in the colors of the leaves, it is easy to find a few things that we can be thankful for.

But what about the next random Wednesday in December when most everything you do is hard? That is the day that giving thanks is even more important. Taking our focus off of all that we think is wrong and focusing on God and His unfailing, merciful love-- His creative handiwork-- this will open our hearts to more of Him. So, when life is hard in the coming days or month-- pivot and see if you can find one or two things that catch your eye and thank God for His goodness.

I will praise You, Lord with all my heart;
I will declare all Your wonderous deeds.
I will delight and rejoice in You;
I will sing hymns to Your name, Most High.
Psalm 9:2-3

I would love to know if any of our Moutain Movers have a dedicated gratitude practice, maybe making a running list of all the things for which you are grateful.  If so, share what you do and how it helps you to praise God and delight in Him.
