Holiness is hiding in the ordinary days.

Your ordinary, hidden acts of love are more lovely than you might know. When I was a child, our days weren’t on display like items in a shop window hoping to catch the eye of a passerby.

Hyperconnectivity convinces us to contort our lives into special shapes to garner likes, follows, and feedback. This mindset makes it easy to dismiss the beauty hiding in the ordinary parts of our lives.

These tasks may not be worth capturing in your camera roll. Boring often isn’t worth mentioning. When our minds are trained on staying relevant, it’s easy to ignore what may be the very thing God wants to use to draw you closer to Him.

God hides in the mundane.

Each hidden act you perform sinks the roots of love deeper into the soil of your life. The tasks performed beyond the reach of ring lights are your acts of faithfulness. Too many to mention, too few acknowledged by others-- each more powerful than you know.

Holy work is happening in the hidden parts of your day. This is how Mary raised Jesus.

The majority of Jesus’ life was spent growing in wisdom, working in Nazareth. The holy family was hidden and unknown. No one thought to have Jesus sign the tables built with such holy hands. His customers saw the ordinary, the truly unremarkable.

What would life look like if we were to value the extraordinary power of the holy tasks hidden from view of the limelight?
